Army of Stars–“Good Tidings of Great Joy”: For the first time in its 50-plus year history, this year’s Army of Stars Christmas radio show will feature a Salvation Army musical group — the Pasadena Tabernacle Songsters, led by William B. Flinn. And the Songsters are in good company in sharing “Good Tidings of Great Joy.”
A highlight of the program is General Paul A. Rader’s depiction of the scene on a Galilean hillside two thousand years ago: “Trembling with fear at the blazing heavens and the awesome sound of angelic voices…these shepherds were probably more terrified than honored to be the first to know of the Savior’s birth. The angels understood and accepted their fear. ‘You needn’t be afraid, for I bring you marvelous news, glad news, for all people everywhere. For unto you is born this day, in the City of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord.’ ”
Hosted by Lloyd Bridges, this year’s Army of Stars also features the music of Grammy-award winning Natalie Cole, and the Army of Stars Orchestra.
“Good Tidings of Great Joy” will be aired on well over 1,000 radio stations nationwide this Christmas.
