Sun City, Ariz., Corps sees continued growth

Listen to this article

Almost two years ago Lt. Colonels Alfred and Sherryl Van Cleef retired as leaders of the Southern California Division and accepted a new assignment as corps officers at the Sun City Corps, Ariz. They took up this new challenge with enthusiasm and have been privileged to see some fine progress.

In September 2005 they started a Wednesday after-school learning center. It began with eight or nine young people and soon grew to 30. As more young people became involved, they expressed interest in other Army programs—Girl Guards, Sunbeams and Adventure Corps troops were commenced and officially registered.

Lt. Colonel Van Cleef states: “We recently enrolled 11 junior soldiers, seven as a result of the after-school program.” Congratulations to these new junior soldiers and the Sun City Corps!
