by CLINTON TRIMMER –

If you haven’t signed up for the Heritage Conference, to be held at Crestmont October 25-27, 2006, now is your chance! You won’t want to miss hearing this year’s featured guests.

Colonel Henry Gariepy will be heading up this exciting conference, with workshops and lectures on developing corps histories. Prior to retirement, Colonel Gariepy served for 15 years as national editor-in-chief and literary secretary for the USA. During that period he coordinated the Army’s first International Literary Conference. He is the author of 18 books including the authorized biography of General Eva Burrows. Our other featured guest, Dr. Diane Winston, will be presenting a lecture on her 1999 book, Red Hot and Righteous: The Urban Religion of the Salvation Army.

This year, we also have the privilege to welcome producers from Promenade Pictures. Promenade Pictures is currently in the process of pre-production for a movie about the Founder, William Booth, and the beginnings of the Army. The producers will be prepared to share their vision for bringing The Salvation Army to the silver screen. This glimpse at the production process is a very special privilege and an occasion you won’t want to miss!

Accommodations are on the Crestmont campus at the Richard E. Holz Conference Center. The cost (including the conference) is $230 for a private room or $195 (per person) for a shared room. The day rate for those not needing overnight accommodations is $125 per person and includes two lunches, two dinners, and all breaks. A special discount is available for retired officers. For more information please call Captain Linda Jackson at (310) 544-6406 or send an email to Linda_Jackson@usw.salvationarmy.org.

Make sure to mark your calendars for Heritage Conference 2006, so you don’t miss this chance to experience Salvation Army history and the opportunity to learn how to build your own corps history. Space is limited, so make your reservations today. See the registration form on page 9 of this issue of New Frontier for additional details.
