Wun Answers Higher Call

Wun

Major Daniel Wun
was unexpectedly promoted to Glory recently when he suffered a heart attack while driving home from a meeting.

Daniel Wun was born in 1943 in Hong Kong, accepting Christ as his Savior when he was 17. In 1967, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Alliance Theological Seminary in Hong Kong, and in 1979 completed his Master of Divinity at the China Graduate School of Theology in Hong Kong.

He became a soldier at the Tai Hang Tung Corps and entered the School for Officers’ Training in Hong Kong in 1970. He completed his second year in San Francisco. He was commissioned in 1972 as a member of the Lightbringers Session. Returning to Hong Kong, he was corps officer of the Yau Tong Corps.

Daniel married Susan Lai in 1973 and they served together at Yau Tong and then Kowloon Central Corps. God blessed the Wuns with two children, son Dakin and daughter Yvonne.

The Wun family immigrated to the U.S. in 1980. Shortly afterward, Daniel began working with the Chinese ministry at Oakland Citadel, which later became the Oakland Chinatown Corps. Captain and Mrs. Wun continued as corps officers there for another seven years, followed by San Francisco Chinatown and their present appointment at Temple City, Calif.

Besides his wife and children, Wun is survived by his mother, Kin Wah Yip, who lives with the family; three sisters and five brothers, all of whom reside in Hong Kong.

A memorial service was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Whittier. Captain Eric Lo shared a personal tribute, and Lt. Colonel Alfred Van Cleef brought the message.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Major Susan Wun and family at 909 Durango Street, Montebello CA 90640-2518.
