The Salvation Army’s Christmas kettle goes online—creating innovative fundraising possibilities.

National headquarters’ Community Relations and Development department (CRD) recently announced that the four U.S. territories have approved and given the go-ahead for a national Online Red Kettle campaign. Bringing the specific joy of giving during the holiday season online greatly expands the potential for the traditional Christmas campaign across the nation.

Western CRD Public and Corporate Relations Director Deborah Knutson states: “We’re thrilled to have a national online peer-to-peer Christmas fundraising campaign this year.” She notes that the Online Red Kettle offers many benefits to The Salvation Army and its constituents, and provides a fun and convenient way for individuals, groups, and/or businesses and organizations to be involved. Special features of the program include:
• Individuals can customize and host a personal online kettle and then send emails asking others to fill their kettle with online donations.
• Group online red kettles are available for advisory organizations, civic groups and others, and offer these groups the ease of setting up their own kettle, allowing individuals within the group to fundraise
while collectively being reflected in their one group kettle.
• Businesses can host their own online red kettles and place a link on their internet and/or intranet sites.
• In all cases, individuals, groups and businesses can track how much money they have raised, in real time.

This online innovation will create new opportunities for those who care to help the Army continue “Doing the Most Good.”

The online red kettle will “go live” Wednesday, November 16; be sure to visit the national website (www.salvationarmyusa.org) for more information.
