Heralds of the Good News—The Salvation Army’s new session of cadets—will be welcomed by the territory on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tustin Ranch Corps.

All are invited to the service, where Territorial Commander Commissioner Philip Swyers, with Commissioner Patricia Swyers and Training College Principal Major Donald Hostetler and Major Arvilla Hostetler will accept these new cadets for training.

Commissioner R. Joe Schurink and Lt. Colonel Mrs. Doorke Schurink-Reidijk, from The Netherlands, are special guests. The couple are Dutch officers who, in retirement, continue to be dynamic messengers of God’s Good News.

In 1992, Schurink was appointed the first commander of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union). While there, he opened the work in the Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, visiting places where the people had never before heard the Gospel. The Schurinks are sought-after speakers in their own country and abroad.

During the welcome, music will be provided by the Western Music and Western Youth Institutes. The welcome meeting will also be available to view at www.usw.salvationarmy.org.
