Venezuela’s miraculous catch—Western officer Major Doug Danielson—formerly chief secretary in Latin America North, now divisional commander, Mexico City—recently reported on a “miraculous catch” for the San Luis Corps in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

The men in this community—soldiers of the corps—had worked for an employer who owned fishing boats; they received little pay and depended on the owner for work.

To help the men become self-sufficient, the corps began a project to provide a fishing boat for them. The regional commander, Captain Pedro Lopez, titled this project “the miraculous catch.”

Thanks to local efforts and generous donations, the corps was able to build the boat and purchase a motor. The fishermen came up with the funds to finish equipping the boat with nets. Now, five fishermen work the boat, sharing in the profits, with the corps also receiving a portion of the income to help maintain the boat and to support local corps programs.

The miraculous catch has provided a secure and ethical work environment for these fishermen, soldiers of the San Luis Corps.
