Salt Lake City—On a recent Saturday, 19 school-aged children from the Salt Lake Area Salvation Army Citadel and Central Corps joined the American Le Mans Series at the Miller Motorsports Park as part of the Grid Kids program for a very special day at the racetrack.

The kids enjoyed meeting with race team #31 Petersen/White Lightning, who explained all about their racecar and the special fire suits and helmets they wear when racing. Each child was able to sit and have their picture taken in the team’s racecar while having his/her Grid Kids t-shirt autographed by each of the drivers. After lunch, the kids took their seats in the grandstand to watch the race. At $50 per seat, this event certainly was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these children to enjoy. At the end of long, hot, exciting day, everyone experiences a great time at the races!
