During their recent visit to Anchorage, Alaska, the Harlem Globetrotters, working with Clear Channel Radio and Blockbuster Video Stores, collected donations to support The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army brought an Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP) truck to receive donations during the three-hour event. Due to significant radio promotion, the event was a great success with contributions of bicycles, clothing and household goods.
The Anchorage Corps, which normally holds youth programs at the same time, took the children to meet the Globetrotters. Everyone got autographs and posed for pictures. Hot Shot spent time with the group, teaching them some ball handling tricks, which was quite entertaining. The kids signed up for drawings to win tickets to see the Globetrotters perform or for a week at a local basketball camp.
