Company donates flooring to transitional living facility.

Despite the troubled economy, employees of Los Angeles-based KB Home’s Westwood corporate office have given their time, skills and product to benefit The Salvation Army’s Westwood Transitional Living Village. During the holidays, the company—one of America’s largest homebuilders—“adopted” the families at the village, ensuring every child received gifts and donating a $100 Ralph’s gift card to each household. Their generosity has continued into the new year with a gift that will last for years—brand new flooring in each of the village’s 40 residences.
“We’re so grateful for the support of business leaders in our community like KB Home,” said Estella Wilson, director of the Westwood Transitional Village.
“We know how important home is, and to be able to help these deserving families right here in our own community is very special,” said Jeffrey Mezger, president and chief executive officer of KB Home. “We’re pleased that we could utilize the talents and generosity of our employees and trade partners to make the homes at the Westwood Transitional Village more comfortable for its residents.”
KB Home enlisted the help of Armstrong, a longtime national trade partner, who donated the new vinyl flooring material. KB Home is covering the cost of installation, which will be executed by Leonard’s Flooring, another valued KB Home contractor and the company’s primary flooring installer for its Southern California Coastal Division.
Previously, every two years, when a family moved on from Westwood, the carpeting would be replaced at a substantial cost. This new flooring, with a minimum lifespan of 10 years, represents not only a cost effective remedy to that, but also improves the quality of life of all the residents who call Westwood Transitional Village home.
“With these generous donations,” said Wilson, “KB Home and its partners have made a lasting impact on both the families that live here now and those who need our help in the future.”
