Plans for the West’s second Bible conference are underway.
by Cathryn Russell, Major –
Begin your plans now to attend the second Western Bible Conference (WBC), to be held August 21 – 26, 2010 at the Mt. Hermon Conference Center nestled in the redwood-forested Santa Cruz Mountains, just six miles from Monterey Bay.
The Mt. Hermon website, https://mounthermon.org, describes a Christ-centered environment with its stated purpose: “Encountering Jesus—Lives Transformed.”
While exploring the website, I found this pledge: “You’ll exchange the pressures and the mundane for the beauty of God’s creation at Mount Hermon. Your body will have fun, your soul will rest, and your mind will engage the timeless truths of God’s Word. God is at work here and his fruit is lives transformed.” Western Bible Conference will be well suited to this lovely Christian setting.
During the summer of 2008, hundreds of Salvationists enjoyed the coastal setting of Asilomar, near Monterey, in Pacific Grove, California, as they gathered for the first WBC. “Refresh” was the theme…and indeed, we were refreshed. The inspired and inspiring preaching of National Commander Commissioner Israel Gaither, the in-depth Bible teaching of Dr. Bill Ury and the worship music of Phil Laeger filled hearts and minds each day, giving participants a fresh taste of living water.
We joyfully anticipate the days we will spend together at the second WBC, when we will experience the release of our daily cares as we join with family and friends in a setting designed for God’s people. Our goal is to bring every delegate into a closer relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, allowing each person to become more passionate about his or her faith, prayer focus and the Holy Spirit.
WBC 2010 details and registration information will be available soon. Meanwhile, mark your calendars now, explore Mt. Hermon on the web and prepare your heart for an adventure in faith!
