Vida will replace Nuevas as the new Spanish-language publication of New Frontier Publications, and will be available to the public in early April. The magazine will feature evangelical content that can be used within corps for spiritual growth.

“Vida will be timeless, and although it will have news articles, they will be more informative articles and not event-based articles,” said Pili Martinez-Moore, Vida editor.

According to Moore, the Western Territory includes about 46 corps and more than 10 active Spanish ministries. She said that with the growing Hispanic population within The Salvation Army, it is important to have a publication specifically for them.

“It’s important to share the gospel with this growing population and in turn give the soldiers the tools they need to reach others for Christ,” she said.

Unlike Nuevas, Vida will be a quarterly magazine, and the content will be faith-based feature stories that can be distributed among the Hispanic corps. The publication will include few news stories, and more testimonial stories.

“Vida is a comprehensive and applicable magazine for both Christian and non-Christian people ,” Lt. Colonel Zoilo Pardo, territorial multicultural ministries secretary, said. “Readers can expect a bold biblical message relevant to these contemporary times.”

Vida will be launched and distributed at the first Territorial Spanish Bible Conference in May. A brief presentation at the conference will inform attendees of what the magazine will include.

Moore said, “It is our hope that the message of Vida will reach, teach and encourage our Latino soldiers who in turn will share the gospel of Christ with others.”
