tornadoes thrash the panhandle. salvation army dispatches in response. the salvation army was quick to respond after fast moving tornadoes along the texas and mexico border killed 10 people and injured many others on april 24. within about a week’s time, the region withstood eight tornadoes, according to the national weather service. the army dispatched canteens to many texas locations to provide drinks, food and counseling as necessary for victims and relief workers on both sides of the border. major james taylor, texas divisional secretary, stated that the salvation army’s length of stay is yet to be determined.
