Once Again
Recently, the Denver Citadel Band, under the leadership of Captains John and Pam Brackenbury and Bandmaster John Covert, shared their ministry of music in Casper, Wyo.
At best estimates, it was the first time in 40 years that a full brass band had visited the Casper area.
They performed a mini-concert at Eastridge Mall and a night of music and ministry at the First Baptist Church. More than 100 worshippers culminated the weekend with morning services of praise and worship at the corps on Sunday.
The community was warmly blessed by their music and grateful for the memories. One woman in particular had played in a Salvation Army band as a young person in Scotland and remarked: “Once a Salvationist, always a Salvationist at heart.”
Lt. Rick Fisher, Casper commanding officer, said: “The ministry of the Denver Citadel Band clearly illustrates the working of the Body of Christ in service to one another. We are well known in Casper for our outreach ministry. The band helped us communicate the boldness of our spiritual ministry as well.”
As one community member put it: “There’s nothing quite as beautiful as a Salvation Army band to bring back memories of the past and spur us on toward future victories.”
