The Salvation Army’s Stockton, Calif., corps served a no-cost spaghetti dinner on May 15, 2010. Corps Officers Captains Eric and Jasiel Tumale and volunteers welcomed more than 500 people to the outreach event.
Tumale noted that the poor economy has hit the community hard. In the last two years the amount of groceries the corps distributes—three times a week—has tripled. People who once supported them now need their assistance.
“Before, they helped us; now, they need our help,” Tumale said. “We need to honor that.”
