Corps now has a Candidates Book Club.
Praising the Lord for its 12 potential candidates for the College for Officer Training, The Salvation Army’s Spokane (Wash.) Corps, led by Captain Kyle and Major Lisa Smith, formed a monthly Candidates Book Club.
Participants discuss books on Salvation Army history, theology, leadership, pastoral care, etc. The next book scheduled is One For All, by Commissioner James Knaggs and Major Stephen Court.
“This book club meets over a meal and gives our candidates and future candidates an opportunity to interact, learn and grow together as leaders,” said Lisa Smith. “It’s so important for leaders to keep our minds challenged and alert so that we can do our very best in the calling God has for each of us.”
The group includes accepted candidate Brenda Crosby, youth leaders Jeremy and Andrea Reedy, and Corps Sergeant-Major Elaine Mansoor.
