Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, Judge Joe Brown and others recently helped The Salvation Army dedicate the South Los Angeles Center for Worship and Service, a new community center for residents of South Central Los Angeles.
The 37,000-square-foot center houses a licensed childcare center, gym and weight room, computer center, classrooms, dance and performing arts studio, photo lab, library and the Billy and Ruth Graham Chapel.
The Salvation Army South Los Angeles Center for Worship and Service was developed to provide much needed services for youth and families in South Central Los Angeles.
The Army’s new facility builds upon and greatly enhances the academic, recreational and enrichment activities provided through The Salvation Army South Central Youth Project—a collaboration between The Salvation Army, Weingart Foundation and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
