“This is The Salvation Army saying thank you to you for supporting our community,” said Divisional Commander Lt. Col. Kyle Smith. “Thank you for having faith in us so we can show love to others. When the community comes together through The Salvation Army we can make a difference. We can do great things.”
The event featured the Western Territory Staff Songsters and a jazz trio as guests—who had given a single gift of $1,000 or more to The Salvation Army in recent years—enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and dessert, and heard from radio personality Larry Elder, who grew up attending the Los Angeles Red Shield.
“That was a place where there was an oasis of sanity, where every now and then you would hear a kind word,” Elder said. “To have community center is absolutely indispensable. Thank you for helping these programs continue to grow.”
