Join the welcome
by Martin Hunt –
The Western Territory will welcome the newest officer recruits at a public meeting held at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in San Diego on Saturday, September 15 at 4:00 p.m. As we welcome the new session of cadets, the Witnesses for Jesus, we will do so by thanking God in prayer for all the wonderful things he has done for us, and then celebrate together knowing that even greater things are in store for us.
Commissioners Robert and Alice Watson, retired national leaders, will be our special guests and will challenge us to respond to the call on our lives, and to live and grow our Army through prayer and commitment. Our territorial leaders, Commissioners Philip and Pat Swyers, will call the territory to a year of prayer, challenging us to find out what God can really do if we commit to be in communication with him.
Tickets for the Welcome meeting are available from territorial headquarters; please see your corps officer for a registration form, or visit www.usawest.org. Childcare is available at no cost for those 11-years-old and younger, and children in child care will be able to make the most of all the recreation activities at the Kroc Center.
If you are planning on attending the Welcome meeting, you may wish to take advantage of the Kroc Center during the day. For a small fee of $5 (payable on site) you can take part in all of the Kroc Center activities including swimming and ice skating, so why not bring your whole family for a day of recreation followed by meeting together as an Army in prayer and celebration!
