Soldier Promoted to Glory
Stanley F. Davey, a soldier at the Sacramento Citadel Corps, was promoted to Glory on November 20, 2000. His 45 years of continual service commenced at his commissioning as an officer in 1929. He served in corps appointments on the British field and then was appointed to the Reliance Bank.
In 1959 he came to San Francisco and worked as an employee at THQ in the finance department. He took on leadership of the Harbor Light Center in 1961, where he developed the detox center, the women’s program, and opened the Turk Street Center and the dry hotel for recovering alcoholics. Following these 15 years, he took on a special assignment with the State of California Drug and Alcohol Dept.
He is survived by his wife Miriam, son Charles, daughters Eleanor Harrington and Veronica Velez, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
