Vivian represented the Army at a number of International Conferences of Social Welfare. She was with the first tour group to enter China and make contact with Salvation Army officers. Lt. Colonel Johnson entered into retirement in 1979. She continued working after retirement as the City County Coordinator for Santa Clara County, Calif. Later she moved east and worked as administrator of the Philadelphia Booth Hospital.
