Potential Kroc Center locations identified

Eight locations have been identified as potential sites for the West’s new Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Centers. The selection process now moves into phase two; to be selected, the proposed center must:

• Clearly demonstrate that sufficient new funds can be raised in the community on a sustained basis to cover a significant share of the operating costs.

• Include a five-year budget, approved by the divisional finance board that defines adequate funding for every program, department, ministry and maintenance needs. It will be necessary to solicit long-term support from foundations, businesses and individuals. Each project will be evaluated on its ability to sustain the center and program.

• Include a complete staffing plan for each program component for both paid and volunteer staff. It is expected that all staff and volunteers will be selected for their Christian faith walk, and heart for the Army’s mission.”

“Each project entering the second phase will receive a list of criteria expected,” stated Lt. Colonel Donald Bell, chief secretary. “At the end of phase two, finalists will be selected for full development of Kroc Centers.

“Approximately $200 million is available for construction of the centers. With six of the eight finalists currently requesting in excess of $30 million, there will be sufficient funds to construct six, possibly seven centers.”
