Four new soldiers joined the ranks of the Pomona (Calif.) Corps on Oct. 17, 2010. Lt. Colonel Rose-Marie Leslie, Southern California divisional director of women’s ministries, officiated at the swearing in of Joey Martinez, Adelaida Mascote, Orlando Delvasto and Adriana Delvasto. Captains Moy (Jr.) and Erika Hernandez are corps officers.

These new soldiers will help the corps implement several ministries, including an outreach to local colleges and universities. A primary focus will be restarting a Hispanic Sunday school Bible class.

Bandmaster Roland Furman also took part in the ceremony, recommitting himself to The Salvation Army after first being sworn in as a soldier in 1946.

The Pomona Corps brass band “Onward, Christian Soldiers,” “In My Heart There Rings a Melody” and “Old Hundredth.”

Lt. Colonel Victor Leslie, Southern California divisional commander, brought the message.
