The Year for Children and Youth is being celebrated at the Phoenix Citadel Corps in the Southwest Division. On March 20, Major Harry Lacey, corps officer, enrolled seven new junior soldiers. Five of the seven children first met The Salvation Army as a result of a friend bringing them to the youth programs.

Others came as a result of the singing company—all the children who attend youth programs are encouraged to participate. Still others came because of the mentoring program, which was started this year. Each child who attends the youth programs or the corps is paired up with a volunteer from the corps. There were more mentors than children, but that was all right because as a result of the mentoring program, more children have started attending the corps and youth programs.

We praise God for the many blessings these children bring to the Phoenix Citadel Corps!
