Each year in mid-April, the city of Long Beach, Calif. hosts the Toyota Grand Prix. It takes place right outside Western Territorial Headquarters.
I just spent three days trackside at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. What a thrill it was watching the Indy cars go by at speeds of 180-plus miles per hour, circling the 11-turn, 1.968-mile track in just over a minute.
The celebrity race, dubbed the “Celebrity Demolition Derby” by fellow photographers, lived up to its name. One driver actually pushed another into the wall just to get around turn nine first. A green flag signals the start of a race; just minutes later a checkered flag waves—then it’s over.
In 1 Corinthians 15:52 we are reminded that this life will end “in the twinkling of an eye.” We have life on earth for about 70 or 80 years to prepare for an eternity. The question is: Where will you spend it? Will you end up in the winner’s circle in the presence of God, or will you end up against the wall, out of the race, separated from him? Later on in the same chapter we read, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
It is simple—everyone can win through accepting Christ as Savior.
