CARNEGIE, Pa., March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Once again, The Salvation Army is stepping up to the plate to be a part of the unemployment solution.  The organization’s Homewood Worship and Service Center has slated its Third Semi-Annual Community Career Fair for Friday, May 13th from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm at its 8020 Frankstown Avenue facility.  Everything from health care organizations and technical schools to banks and government agencies will be represented at this upcoming event.

“We welcome everyone to take part in this important event,” said Major Sandra Jackson, The Salvation Army’s Allegheny County Coordinator.  “In addition to the Career Fair, our Homewood Worship and Service Center routinely offers job skills and other support training.  This facility provides valuable resources for area families and we encourage everyone to take advantage of them.”

“The Salvation Army has always been committed to transforming communities by offering services and opportunities for families to achieve economic independence,” said Shawn McAtee, Career Director.  McAtee continued; “Our center is continuing that commitment by providing comprehensive job search assistance to the local workforce. In addition to exposing clients to employment resources, providing computer and internet access, and teaching resume writing and interviewing skills, we are in the process of connecting a growing pool of work-ready job-seekers with businesses seeking to hire quality applicants.”

In addition to job-seekers, corporations and sponsors are invited to attend.  Companies and supporters can help by: sponsoring the career fair with a direct financial contribution; reserving an employer’s exhibit table to promote your organization’s rewarding career opportunities; supplying an in-kind contribution in the form of career resource materials, job-seeker aids and tools, career oriented books and information sheets, office supplies such as pens, pads, paper, etc., or any product you feel would be helpful to those actively seeking career advice and opportunities.  For information, contact Shawn McAtee at 412-242-1434 or shawn_mcatee @use.salvationarmy.org.
