Located on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Camp Homelani’s mission is to lead campers to a knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ and growth in their faith.
With the theme “Glorious Praise,” Homelani Music Camp 2010 had an overflow crowd of 105 youth, requiring the raising of four additional tents to house all the campers for the nine-day event.
Young people had the opportunity to play an instrument of their choice, along with music theory instruction, chorus groups and elective classes. The final concert at Windward Mall was open to parents, family, friends and shoppers. The staff presented awards to campers for outstanding achievement in their classes.
Jarrett Wypych is a native youth from Hanapepe, Kauai, who—until he chose to attend Homelani Music Camp—had never been off of his home island. The summer trip was also his first experience as a camper. Trumping all these other “firsts,” Jarrett also accepted Christ for the first time in his life.
During the final program at Windward, Jarrett received an award for his elective “signing” class.
Jarrett loved his time at Glorious Praise so much that he returned to the Teen Camp—“To Save A Life”—and notified staff that he would like to join the Homelani Camp staff in 2011.
Camp Homelani welcomed 444 campers this summer. Among that 444, 80 accepted Christ for the first time, 196 made a re-commitment and 68 requested prayers. Summer camp ministry in Hawaii has a real impact in kids’ lives!
