About 50 seniors arrived at Camp Homelani prepared to enjoy the “State Fair” for four days. They came from the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. After registering and settling into their cabins we had a fun first night playing games geared to get to know the other campers and have fun and win prizes.

The next day, the seniors brought their home made, home canned, and hand crafted items to the dining room where they were put on display and judged. Ribbons were awarded to the top in each category. Everyone received a “participant” ribbon. After crafts in the afternoon, we all met in the pavilion for a fun carnival.

On the last day, Statehood Day, all the crafts were geared to the Hawaiian theme and we joined in the evening for our annual Hawaiian Court. We crowned the King and Queen, surrounded by princesses representing each island, then we all performed to honor the King and Queen. Major Florence Rodriguera and Mrs. Brigadier Martie Abella hosted this event.
