With the support of Satellite Spirits, The Salvation Army is helping its clients, employees and volunteers stay safe from COVID-19. The Grass Valley, California, distillery donated 80 gallons of homemade hand sanitizer, which mostly went to Silvercrest Senior Living Residences that provide low-income housing to seniors in nine different states.
In the Del Oro Division, which covers Northern California and Northern Nevada, Silvercrests in Reno, Nevada; Eureka and Stockton, California, received hand sanitizer donations. The gifts arrived just in time.
“Commercial supplies have been on backorder across the country,” said Kathryn Bazlen, Regional Property Manager for Salvation Army Silvercrest. “This donation raised the spirits of hundreds of employees, and thousands of seniors across our territory. It’s one of many steps in the right direction to keeping our teams and communities safe in this challenging time.”
Those at Satellite Spirits, makers of South Fork Vodka, said they are happy to use their skills in a new way to help the community.
“We are in the middle of the greatest health crisis of our lifetime,” said Jonathan Dorfman, President of Satellite Spirits. “Our community needs us now, especially the people on the front lines of all this, our health care workers, our first responders. If we can help them stay safe while they do their job helping others, we are all in.”
The distillery has made over two tons of hand sanitizer since the coronavirus emergency began. The rest of the donation made to The Salvation Army will be distributed to community centers throughout the Del Oro Division to help keep clients, employees and volunteers safe.
