Esqueda honored as hometown hero
El Centro, Calif., corps officer Captain Jerry Esqueda was honored as a “hometown hero” in the Brawley, Calif. Cattle Call Parade recently. Esqueda, who rode on a float, was selected because of the Army’s expanded services in helping needy families that have taken place since he was appointed to the area. “They wanted to express their thanks by acknowledging me and The Salvation Army, along with a sergeant from the Imperial police department, a fireman from the Calipatria fire department, a boarder patrol officer, and a World War II veteran. “
Las Vegas adds to advisory board
The Clark County, Nev., administration has added two new members to its advisory board: Daniel Toll and Peggy Franzio.Robert Weaver is board chair; Christine Wunderlin previously served in that capacity. “The board continues to grow in Clark County,” stated Clark County Administrator Major William Raihl. “We are fortunate to have such a fine board to help southern Nevada grow in the wide programs offered to those we serve.”
Cascade Women break records
Two hundred fifteen Cascade women attended the fall spiritual retreat, breaking attendance records for the past 10 years, reports Cascade Divisional Women’s Ministries Secretary Major Betsy Kyle. “Guest speaker Cindi McMenamin was well received and had a timely message for the women. She encouraged the women to allow God to meet their emotional needs that could not be met by anyone else.”
Freeman earns MA
Captain Daniel Freeman, Boise, Ida., corps officer, has recently earned a Master of Arts degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. Congratulations, Captain!
Navarro awarded Bachelors
Congratulations to Hawaii and Pacific Islands Youth & Candidates Secretary Captain Neil-Favio Navarro, who has earned a Bachelor of Arts- Interdisciplinary Studies: Urban Planning from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
