Medford Citadel celebrates
The Salvation Army in Medford, Ore., was awarded 10 new computers, several digital cameras and two new printers, thanks to a generous grant from the Beaumont Foundation, reports Major Carol Samuelson, corps officer. “The computer clubhouse is available four days a week to help children with their homework during the after-school hours,” she said. An open house served as a kick-off event for the Army’s offering basic computer classes to low income adults and/or seniors.

Army assists in Granby
In response to the rampage by a man in a bulldozer in Granby, Colo., the Army sent personnel and a mobile kitchen to support law enforcement personnel and people evacuated from their homes. While there, they provided 200 people with snacks and beverages and provided more than 20 people with pastoral support. At least five buildings were destroyed before the man’s bulldozer got stuck as it was knocking down a hardware store.

Sloan honored in Glendale
Captain Jim Sloan, Glendale, Calif. Corps officer, was selected as a Business Award recipient for employees who best exemplify the guiding principles of The Character and Ethics Project, in Glendale. Sloan received the award at a recognition ceremony, where he was honored for his “tremendous commitment to good character and ethics” by The Character and Ethics Project and local legislators.

Del Oro shares the Army
At least 12 corps or ARC units in the Del Oro Division participated in Salvation Army Day, as part of National Salvation Army Week activities. Events included an open air meeting, open house, and an evangelism day. Canteens were set up, doughnuts and coffee were served, and many learned about Army programs and services to the community.

Well done
Captain Tammy Larson, Fresno Citadel corps officer, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministries from Fresno Pacific University.
Captain Raymond Erickson-King, Mid-Columbia, Wash., corps officer, was awarded a B.S. degree, cum laude, from Western Baptist College in Business Administration: Management and Communication.

Out of the territory
The following officers have been appointed out of the Western Territory:
Majors Darvin and Betty Carpenter—ProTem at THQ in the Leadership Department Section waiting an international appointment to be announced in the future.
Majors Bruce and Diana Jones—territorial Business Administration analyst and territorial Older Adult Ministries director, respectively, in the Southern Territory.
Majors Clement and Evangeline Leslie—associate National Community Relations and Development secretary (with responsibility for Public Policy) and national consultant on Youth Ministries, respectively, at National Headquarters.
Captains Mike and Lisa Roland—administrator, Chicago (North Side) ARC and director of Special Services, Chicago (North Side), respectively, in the Central Territory.

Apologies
In the June 3, 2004 issue of New Frontier, Major Rose-Marie Leslie’s name was omitted from the list of team members who visited Latin America North (“God’s Heart for Missions” pp 6-7). We apologize for the oversight.
