(matthew 6:24). by sue schumann warner. an army of angels. the theme of the sierra del mar division’s 41st annual women of dedication luncheon was “an army of angels,” the salvation army and community volunteers working together. the following women were honored for making a difference in the community: ann boyd, dea hurston, delores mcneely, anne brown, sue kalish, cindy peterson, connie conard, windie knoth, sharon stein, berneice copeland, jeanne hancock larson, pattie welborn, katie engler, linda marteeny, and jane wilson. zielinski earns degree. major michael zielinski, santa monica arc administrator, will be receiving his bachelor of science degree in business administration from concordia university (irvine) on may 13, 2006. congratulations! lloyd to ico. captain robert lloyd, territorial property secretary, will be attending the international college for officers (ico) session 190 (july 12-september 5, 2006). schwarzenegger thanks army. california governor arnold schwarzenegger recently sent captain john brackenbury, del oro divisional secretary, a copy of his new booklet, restoring the golden state; in a letter, he wrote: “i think you’ll be especially interested in page 25, where you and the salvation army play a starring role.”. boy scouts honor fritz. major russell fritz, san bernardino corps officer, was just awarded the boy scout of america “silver beaver award” for his many years of working with the inland empire boy scout council. the silver beaver award is the highest award that a council can give a person for their service to boy scouts. san francisco silvercrest recognized the army’s san francisco silvercrest was recognized as among the “best of the best” in the seniors housing industry with a gold award by the national association of home builders (nahb). the awards were presented during the 2006 best of seniors housing awards ceremony held in january in conjunction with the international builders’ show in orlando, fla. the casa grande corps, arizona, recently enrolled 10 new junior soldiers and two senior soldiers, reports captain jason koenig, corps officer. seven of the junior soldiers were first introduced to the corps through the spring break day camp led by the cadet brigade last year. “one of the senior soldiers is the mother of a few of the junior soldiers, who were also introduced to the salvation army through the day camp,” said dickinson. do you have news? we’d love to hear from you! we welcome short news briefs (50-150 words) from corps, units, and programs around the territory. please e-mail your news, with a photo if available, to:. sue_warner@usw.salvationarmy.org.
