The Northern California Retired Officers’ League is sponsoring its first annual retreat April 11-12, 2003,which will be held in Sacramento, Calif.
League President Major Oliver Stenvick states, “While the retreat is being sponsored by our league, we are inviting all Western retired officers to attend.”
Colonels Edward and Emily Fritz will be the special guest speakers; sessions of interest will address issues that concern the Army’s worldwide ministry as well as matters that relate to our own territory. Special times of worship will be an integral part of the retreat. Additionally, the Friday night sessions will feature, along with other area musicians, the voices of the Sacramento Citadel Songster Brigade.
According to Stenvick, officers from out of the Sacramento area are invited to billet with Sacramento officers who will be offering lodging as requested on a first come basis. Reservations for motel accommodations will be made for delegates upon request. The retreat venue is the spacious facilities of the Del Oro Divisional Headquarters.
Retreat information can be obtained on the retired officers’ website at www.uswsalvationarmy.org/ro
The cost is $30 per person and includes three meals, two refreshment breaks and admission to all five retreat sessions.
Registration information is being mailed to all western retired officers. To assist in local planning delegates are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Registration ends March 31.
Stenvick added, “It is the desire of this year’s organizing committee that the event will be the beginning of a full-fledged retired officers’ association for the Western Territory, and will result in an annual gathering, patterned after the structure that has been in place in the Southern Territory for many years.”
