Broadcast personality Stephanie Edwards, in the role of Mary Magdalene, joins the cast of “On a Hill Far Away” in The Salvation Army’s very special Good Friday drama this year. As Mary, Edwards will narrate the one-hour program, which re-enacts the events of the Passion Week in music and drama.
Perhaps best-known as the spokesperson for Lucky supermarkets and KTLA-TV’s co-host of the Tournament of Roses Parade, she is a long-time friend and supporter of the Army.
“We are thrilled to work with Stephanie in this meaningful way,” says Captain Donna Ames, producer of this year’s program. “Not only her well-known voice, but her dramatic talents and enthusiasm about her participation are sure to make for a wonderful presentation.”
In addition to Edwards’ live narration, highlights of this year’s performance are a beautiful musical score including choral and solo pieces performed by the cadets from the College for Officer Training, live animals, and special recorded segments by actor Robert Goulet.
