General John Gowans has recently appointed Commissioner David Edwards, Western Territorial Commander, to the Advisory Council to the General. This appointment is for one year and began November 1, 1999.
The Council, consisting of 10 members, five of whom come from outside of London, will meet three times during the coming year and exists solely for the purpose of providing the General with such advice and information on a broad range of issues related to Army policy and personnel.
“I feel deeply honored” Edwards said when asked to comment about the appointment.
“I can only promise to do my best to reward the trust and confidence placed in me by General John Gowans.” Edwards was elected to be the Chairman of the Council in its first meeting, held November 6 – 9.
