The eighth National Salvation Army Social Services Conference will be hosted by the Western Territory in Denver, Colo. March 16-20, 2002.

The conference is for all Salvation Army officers and for Army employees engaged in social service ministries. Fifty-four workshops, five pre-conference seminars and six plenary sessions will address a wide range of topics from basic training in Salvation Army casework to strategic planning and grant writing. Content is geared to corps officers, ARC officers, caseworkers, development personnel and program administrators. The conference is an excellent opportunity for both beginning and experienced personnel to learn new skills, broaden their understanding of the Army and its programs, and enjoy a time of personal growth and fellowship. Some four to five hundred delegates are anticipated, representing the four United States territories and Canada. A special feature this year will be a conference in a conference for missing persons directors and personnel. Territories around the globe have been invited to send a representative for this first-ever gathering of those engaged in this work.

Plenary speakers include Com-missioner John Busby, national commander, and Dr. Deforest B. Soaries Jr., Secretary of State, New Jersey. Colonel Linda Bond, chief secretary, Canada and Bermuda Territory, will be the speaker for the united Sunday morning worship service.

Opportunities to meet with colleagues engaged in similar areas of service, morning devotions and evening vespers, a daily AA meeting on site, off-site visits to area social service programs, exhibits of interesting and useful products, and comfortable accommodations in a nearly brand new hotel in Westminster will round out these four-plus days of conference.
