The Salvation Army College for Officer Training (CFOT) at Crestmont is hosting a Polynesian Dinner on April 30, 2005 at the school’s scenic campus in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Crestmont will set two dinner shows, one at 3:00 p.m. and one at 5:00 p.m. Each will host 250 guests and is open to the public. Tickets are $15.00 and the proceeds will go to the Word Services program.

Organized by officers and cadets of Crestmont, the dinner’s theme is “Cruisin’ the South Pacific.” The event will feature live music, fun, fellowship, authentic Polynesian food, and the dances of Hawaii, New Zealand, Samoa, and Tahiti performed by Bright Entertainment (www.hulashows.com). Bright Entertainments’ shows and performers have captivated audiences on stage and on national TV, with their colorful, energy-filled Polynesian dance revue. During the event, the performers interpret dances depicting stories about life in Hawaii and the journey of the Maori people migrating by canoe from Polynesia to New Zealand. Rhythm dances are performed with Lapa sticks while dramatic fire dancers leap and spin while juggling flaming torches to a rapid, primeval drum beat.

Moreover, the event is a practical learning experience aimed at developing and training cadets in the area of community and public relations, event organization, and fundraising. Under the guidance of officers and staff, the cadets do everything for this event from developing the theme to securing the entertainment and catering to writing the press releases.
