Author—a Silvercrest resident—holds book signing.

About 100 persons recently attended a signing party at the Santa Rosa, California Silvercrest Residence for a new book by Eugenia Burney Christensen, The Story of The Salvation Army Silvercrest Residence, Santa Rosa, California. The book was inspired by the 30th anniversary of the building’s completion in October 1975 near downtown Santa Rosa. The 187-unit apartment complex was one of the first in the area to be designed specifically for independent living by senior citizens. Before it was finished, the residence had a waiting list for tenants—it has been filled with residents consistently ever since.
Copies of the book were available for signing by Christensen, who is a nationally known author of nine histories and biographies. Now 93 years old, she has been a resident of Santa Rosa Silvercrest for three years; prior to that she was a resident of Eureka Silvercrest for two years. She is listed in The World Who’s Who of Women.
Among those attending the event were Vice-Mayor Bob Blanchard and community member Jim Johnson, currently running for city council. Sharon King is resident administrator of the Santa Rosa Silvercrest Residence.
