Broomfield Corps Officer Major Beth Paugh had already increased meal delivery to the nearby Silvercrest residence for seniors from two to three days a week and will now be delivering five days, Monday to Friday.

“You can tell by the looks on their faces when they open their doors that they look forward to our brief visits when we deliver the meals,” she said. “I am sure we are the only people they see each week because some of them are afraid to leave their apartments.”

In addition, this week, four teams of volunteers took food boxes and Easter baskets to kids in the corps’ after-school program along with Easter food boxes complete with a ham to orps families.

“The kids and their parents had no idea we were coming. It was very emotional to see the looks on the kids’ faces—from a distance—when they saw us at their doors,” she said. “They were so excited to see us and the parents couldn’t believe that we were there either.”

She received a number of thank you emails in response. One family wrote: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything you guys do! Not only did you make my kids’ day with the Easter baskets, but you made mine and my family’s as well with the food and the health products. You all are the kindest people I have ever met and I am so thankful that my children get to see and experience all of your kindness. Thank you for all you do and thank you again for all the goodies you sent today.”
