Brigadier Verna Davis (R) lives on in many hearts! A memorial fund has been set up in her name in the SFOT bank account in Mexico City, earmarked to provide annual cadets’ awards and other assistance to Mexican cadets.

Davis was promoted to Glory in April after a lifetime of service that took her all over the country, from Oklahoma to Atlanta to Texas. In 1946 she first went to Mexico to set up the divisional headquarters accounting system. She became well known, returning annually for the next 26 years to assist with divisional audits and budget reparation. Through letters and calls she kept up her ministry in Mexico for many years.

“You give the best you have to the Lord, and he multiplies it,” she said. Her philosophy could be summed up this way: “Love God, love people and take advantage of the opportunities the Lord sends your way.” At the age of 61 she retired, only to be called to Atlanta to work another four-plus years at territorial headquarters as a secretary and later as an accountant. In her later years she retired to Portland, Ore., where she lived with her sister, Floradine Criswell.

Those who wish to contribute in Verna’s memory may do so by contacting Major Larry Repass, Assistant Principal, Escuela de Cadetes del Ejercito de Salvacion; Comando de Mexico; Apartado 12-662; Mexico, D.F., 03020
