Youth leaders’ conference scheduled for January 2010.

Boot Camp, scheduled for January 24 – 29, 2010, has found a new home—Mt. Hermon Christian Conference Center, located just minutes from Camp Redwood Glen in Scotts Valley, Calif. Due to popularity of this event, it has outgrown Army facilities. Mt. Hermon offers a state-of-the-art recreation center, conference center style housing, snack shops, outdoor recreation and numerous meeting rooms.
Boot Camp is a youth leadership training conference held by the Western territorial youth department every two years. Over 450 attended the last conference—all coming to be equipped, renewed and encouraged. The conference featured some of the top speakers in the youth leadership-training field, who covered topics like media culture, teen trends, spiritual renewal and marketing. Delegates met new youth workers, networked with like minds and spent time praying for their ministry and personal life.
Much of the feedback received about Boot Camp noted how re-energizing this conference is. Ideas that delegates got from networking at Boot Camp have become successful programs in their own corps. Relationships formed at Boot Camp have turned into small groups and accountability partners; we have even had some cases in which couples who met at Boot Camp have gotten married!
Planning is under way for the next Boot Camp The schedule will again offer a track system so that veteran and new youth workers can take classes that will both inform and challenge them. Youth workers and corps officers will be able to network and use each other’s ideas. The general sessions will offer powerful worship and dynamic speaking.
Scholarships and travel subsidies again will be offered to youth workers and corps officers. Further information will be available soon. See your corps officer for information.
