Before the run, a pancake breakfast was served from the Army’s canteen at the Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson Store. Santa Claus led the pack on his Harley Davidson adorned with antlers and Christmas ornaments.
Led by Officer Jeff O’Brien of the Fort Collins Police Department, 18 reserve deputies helped with traffic control and then joined the tail end of the two-mile long parade. It was truly a spectacular sight as sunlight hit the polished chrome engines.
Santa’s helpers came in the form of Bronco Cheerleaders who had volunteered their time to receive the toys for the Army and greet participants. A free drawing for prizes donated by local businesses was then held between music sets by the “Cherry Street Band.”
As a result, 298 toys and more than $300 were collected from the participants, dispelling preconceived opinions of leather clad bikers.
