bandmaster orrin c. smith promoted to glory. orrin c. smith – family and friends of orrin clark smith mourn his recent passing in portland, ore. born in spokane, wash., he was for 30 years bandmaster of the citadel/ tabernacle corps. among his accomplishments are a considerable number of compositions, most of them written for salvation army bands. he married bethel hoffee in 1938, and they had four children. his second wife, june wobig, died in 1993. he is survived by his brother, commissioner lawrence smith (r), and children, major eileen hoogstad, captain stephen smith, rev. betty chamberlain, and hal smith.
