Captain David Ebel, Kern County coordinator, reports that the merging of The Salvation Army Christmas effort and the Marines’ Toys for Tots effort, with several others, into one coordinated interview, database and distribution is doing exceptionally well. He states, “We were featured on the front page of the Local section of the Bakersfield Californian.”
Bakersfield anticipates providing toys and food for 3,000 families through this community effort. Many volunteers assist by sorting and preparing all donations for distribution. “Every family that has passed the application process will receive food,” says Ebel. “We want to make sure that every child 12 or under has at least two toys or more as supplies are available.”
