Army responds to aftermath caused by storm.
The Salvation Army dispatched five mobile feeding units to Hattiesburg, Miss., after a tornado tore through the area Feb. 10, mangling more than 200 homes, downing trees, and injuring more than a dozen people.
Local emergency management agencies reached out to The Salvation Army for support of assessment and cleanup efforts in the area. Each mobile feeding unit was fully stocked and prepared to serve hundreds of meals to residents and first responders.
“The Salvation Army will be ready to respond as new pockets of need continue to present themselves,” said Bill Feist, Emergency Disaster Services director for The Salvation Army’s Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi Division.
