A doughnut a day keeps hunger away! The Salvation Army Famous Doughnut is the first and only cause-marketing product bearing The Salvation Army brand. The idea was borne out of The Salvation Army’s Northwest Divisional Headquarters office in Seattle in an effort to bring awareness to the services and story of The Salvation Army. Starting with the extraordinary vision by King County advisory board chair, Lee Stiles, and through the guidance of compassionate business members at Fred Meyer, Archer Daniels Midland, Frontier Packaging and Curtis Publishing—what was once just a dream has become reality.
“The Salvation Army’s Famous Doughnut program is an exciting adventure for the Northwest Division as well as the Army in Alaska and Cascade Division,” stated Northwest Divisional Commander Lt. Colonel Terry Griffin. “The Salvation Army Famous Doughnut has the great potential to tell the Army’s story to a wider audience and help underwrite the Army’s human services programs.”
The Famous Doughnut serves as an extension of The Salvation Army’s mission to battle hunger, homelessness and hopelessness in communities across the United States.
Each time a box of Famous Doughnuts is sold, The Salvation Army’s financial ammunition to fight the battle is replenished.
You can find The Salvation Army Famous Doughnut at local Fred Meyer stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska starting January 5, 2004.
