Nearly 4,000 fans cheered on teen pop star and headlining act Austin Mahone at the fourth annual Rock the Red Kettle concert Dec. 7 at Universal CityWalk’s ‘5 Towers’ in Los Angeles.

Hot new artists, Bean, CoCo Jones and Emblem3 also performed at the free show, which aims to reach and familiarize youth with the mission of The Salvation Army.

“Rock the Red Kettle is such an exciting way for The Salvation Army to engage with the next generation of donors,” said National Community Relations and Development Secretary Major Ron Busroe. “We look forward to bringing fans some energetic musical performances while also highlighting the importance of giving back during the holidays and how they can get involved with The Salvation Army.”

Throughout the two-hour concert, short videos explaining the work of The Salvation Army were shown. Grammy winner Kelly Rowland also made an appearance, sharing her experience from a recent visit to The Salvation Army’s Los Angeles Daycare Center with the crowd.

Each performer highlighted The Salvation Army’s 123rd annual Red Kettle Campaign over the last few weeks by hosting an Online Red Kettle and volunteering in an effort to encourage their fans to give back this Christmas and throughout the year.

Fans began lining up in front of the stage, despite the pouring rain, more than eight hours before the concert’s scheduled start time. But not just Angelenos had the opportunity to rock, as budding philanthropists across the globe watched their favorite acts perform via a live stream of the concert.
