The National Association of Social Workers Foundation has honored Lt. Colonel Paul E. Bollwahn, ACSW, CSWM as a “Social Work Pioneer”—“In recognition of exceptional contributions to the social work profession and its ability to meet the needs of all people.” Bollwahn currently serves as Southern California divisional commander.

For over 35 years, Bollwahn has been active in directing, overseeing and providing consultation to a wide variety of The Salvation Army’s social services ministries. Immediately previous to his present appointment, he represented Army social services programming to Capitol Hill, the federal government, and our national peer agencies through his position as national social services secretary.

He has previously been recognized for “distinguished human services leadership” by the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C., and “distinguished service to Christianity in social work” by the North American Association of Christians in Social Work.

Recognition of The Salvation Army’s holistic caring mission is once again highlighted in public with this recognition of service.
