Salvation Army” recently as six new Junior soldiers marched into the chapel at Denver Citadel to be enrolled.

An added element of joy was that five of the new Junior soldiers were from the Lambuth Center, The Salvation Army’s transitional family housing program in Denver.

Children from the Center are brought to the corps every Sunday and throughout the week for various children’s activities, including Singing Company, Sunbeams and Adventure Corps.

Captain Amy Reardon, Denver Citadel corps officer, says she is happy the children are being integrated into regular corps programming. “Making the connection while they are at Lambuth allows us to continue the relationship once they are out in their own homes.”

Linda Jones, Young People’s Sergeant Major (YPSM), has taught the Junior soldier prep lessons and testifies to the impact it makes on their lives: “They are so excited to become Junior soldiers. They can hardly wait to wear the uniform and become Senior soldiers!”

This was the second class of Junior soldiers to be enrolled within six months, bringing the total number of new Junior soldiers this year to 15.
