“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” at THQ, even though our weather in So. California isn’t conducive to snowballs and snowmen. The New Frontier office has new holiday look as well–complete with “snow” made of cottonballs hanging from the ceiling–courtesy of Art Director Kevin Dobruck’s sons Aaron, Jeremiah, and Jason. The boys tackled it as a school project, under the direction of Kevin’s wife, Brenda, who homeschools them.
Thanks, boys, for your gift of Christmas creativity…it’s a wonderful reminder of God’s generous gift of love to us, Jesus, who is the reason for the season…
Santa Rosa Kettle Kick-off
An enthusiastic crowd of over 50 community leaders attended the recent Santa Rosa, Calif., corps Kettle Kick-off luncheon. Director of Development Blaine Goodwin reports that Safeway Stores kicked off the campaign with a donation for $4,000; last year’s kettle workers passed on tips on how to reach out to friends and business partners.
New look for Booth
The Salvation Army’s Booth Memorial Home in Anchorage, Alaska, received the care and attention of more than 30 community volunteers recently. The Anchorage Rotary Club and CRW Engineering Group helped paint the residence dorms, clean the carpets, plant flowers, and complete a variety of group projects, said Business Manager Ann Robinson.
Home League Highlights
At the Grass Valley, Calif., corps, meetings are held to coincide with corps youth activities; moms bring their children to youth meetings and go on to Home League. In Manteca, Calif., the “Breakfast Club” prepares breakfast for families with and without children on Mondays and Wednesdays. Families have become attached to corps activities and some have become soldiers.
To invite new women to the Denver Red Shield Temple, Colo., HL members conducted a meeting in a local park and shopped at a nearby mall for craft supplies. They share a meal during every outing and invite new women. Women at the Green Valley Outpost, Ariz., have returned to school to learn the Spanish language to better help their outreach.
